The Last THING!

Well, it is time to wrap up this internet adventure. My thanks to Shelley for putting together such a well-organized and meaningful class. The more I learned, the more I wanted... no, needed... to know. I said at the start that the hardest thing would be to get to the end without being really distracted. And it was true. Some days I spent hours goign beyond the "task" at hand.

In the past four months, I have extensively used Moodle, Elluminate, Blackboard, set up wikis, responded to threads, done blogs, learned to do synchronous webinars, played on websites like Wordle.net, blabberize, and Flickr. I've tagged, embedded, and widgetted. I have spent more time watching Common Craft than I have watching TV. It's been exhausting - and fun.

Thanks to Amy for mentioning this class to me and for being my mentor. To Shelley for EVERYTHING. And to my husband for his patience, and for doing the dishes many nights while I was on the computer!  Ahh, and to think that 40 years ago when I wanted to add a minor in computer science to my undergraduate zoology degree, I was told I was "stupid". That computers would never become popular (That was when they took up a whole room and we still used keypunched cards!)  As I reflect on all of this, I can think of Dr. Suess 's book... "Ahh, the places you go!"
